On October 19, Aparicio Escalante, Director of the Higher Education Department of the Salvadoran Ministry of Education, led an 11-member delegation to visit the College of Nuclear Science and Technology and tour its laboratories. Participants from the college including Dean Tan Sichao, Vice Dean Gao Puzhen, and faculty representatives Qiao Shouxu and Zhang Tian attended the meeting, accompanied by representatives from the International Exchange and Cooperation Office and the International Cooperative Education College.
The meeting was chaired by Tan Sichao, who provided a detailed overview of the development of the university’s nuclear disciplines, its interactions and collaborations in the global nuclear education sector, and highlighted the cultivation of numerous skilled nuclear professionals and senior managers through the Chinese Government Atomic Energy Scholarship Program. He also extended a warm welcome to Salvadoran educators, researchers, and students to pursue further studies at the college. Aparicio Escalante expressed that nuclear science is an emerging field in El Salvador, with nuclear power being a highly prioritized and strategically planned project for the country. He emphasized the appeal of Harbin Engineering University’s nuclear engineering education and expressed hope for collaboration in nuclear education, as well as support from Harbin Engineering University in establishing nuclear programs and training nuclear professionals in El Salvador.
After the meeting, the delegation toured the Two-Phase Flow Visualization Laboratory and the Nuclear Power Safety Simulation Center, where they gained insights into the college’s research platform, team development, technological innovation, and results transformation.
