18:30 on September 15th, the welcoming ceremony for the 2017 freshmen of the College of Nuclear Science and Technology was held at the launch of the multifunctional Hall. The welcoming ceremony was attended by Professor Sun Yufa, first honorary dean of the Institute and academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Professor Xia Hong, dean, researcher Peng Zongde, party secretary, and associate professor Tian Kai, deputy secretary of the party committee. Professor Gao Pu Zhen, vice president of teaching; Professor Yan Changqi, Director of the Nuclear Power Plant Research Institute; Professor Cao Xinrong, head of the Department of Nuclear Technology; Professor Gusai Shan, Department of Nuclear and Chemical Engineering; and Professor Wang Junling, Center for Nuclear Power Simulation Technology. Professor Ding Ming, Institute of Nuclear Power plants, and class teachers and teachers' representatives at the 2017 level. Wu Qiongxiao, a 2015 undergraduate student, acted as the host.

Before the ceremony began, the moderator gave a presentation on the enrollment of the nuclear college's freshmen this year 245 undergraduates and 100 graduate students. And on behalf of all the teachers and students of the College to them a warm welcome and heartfelt congratulations.

The host introduced the guests, college leaders and teachers to the meeting. First of all, the host invited academicians Sun Yufa to give a speech. He welcomed the students to the Institute of Nuclear Science and Technology of Harbin Engineering University and briefed them on the remarkable achievements of engineering students in various fields. He hope that the students can adapt to the university environment as soon as possible, cherish the existing learning opportunities, study hard, and contribute their own strength to the nuclear cause.

Later, the host invited Dean Xia Hong to speak. Dean Xia congratulated the students on completing their high school studies and formally began their college life, and welcomed everyone to the Institute of Nuclear Science. It is hoped that students will learn to control time, make good use of learning resources, lay solid foundation knowledge, and cultivate practical ability, and eventually become innovative talents with good thinking quality, strong identification ability, and knowledge of nuclear science and technology.

Professor Ding Ming, speaking on behalf of the teacher, hopes that the students can strive to be a social elite with lofty aspirations and high moral integrity.
