Sudan and Mexican students introduced their country’s nuclear power profile
On 8th November, the second session of introduction and Nuclear Power Profile of Countries (by International students) was conducted in Room 238 of 31 building. The presenters were from Sudan and Mexico.
Mr. Kamal Waeel, a PhD student from Sudan presented first and he talked about the culture, political status, economy status of Sudan. He stressed more about the energy sector basing on the nuclear status in Sudan. Being on the initial stages in the nuclear implementation programs, Sudan collaborated with other bodies, like IAEA to boost the energy sector of Sudan to at least 5% by 2030. However, currently Sudan has applied Nuclear applications in Medical centers, such as cancer treatment in hospitals, research facilities, to mention but a few.
The second presenter, Ms. Florencia De los Angeles Renteria Del Toro, is a PhD student from Mexico. She introduced the lifestyle, customs and courtesies in addition to Mexico’s energy overview (nuclear power profile). Mexico picked interest in the nuclear industry around 1965, and from 1976, construction of power plants was initiated. Since then, Mexico’s nuclear sector has been growing enormously. Mexico has uranium resources and conventional uranium resources close to 4500tonnes. Furthermore, nuclear science and technology is being put into practice in different areas in this country, marketing services and exponential growth analysis of the economy and improvement in the production of irrigation sensors, etc.
It is however, clearly seen that these countries are trying to achieve the best in the nuclear sector by training human resources, through academic trainings undertaken in different countries to increase the skill set.
