The College of Nuclear Science and Technology and the College of International Cooperative Education organised a scientific visit to the Technical Physics Institute of Heilongjiang Academy of Science on the 2019-1-16. 24 international students of different Nationalities participated under the supervision of three teachers from the University.

International students were warmly welcomed.  A staff designated as the facilitator for the scientific visit, gave a brief pictorial history, achievements and the main activities of the Institute. Additionally, a researcher at the Institute gave a detailed presentation on the various nuclear research and development projects of the Institute, laboratories, technical support services and outreach programmes rendered by the Institute. Afterwards, Students were taken on a guided tour of the various laboratories of Institute.

Some laboratories visited were the nuclear protection equipment laboratory, mass spectrometry laboratory, plasma research equipment laboratory, Cobalt 60 irradiation center and the ionizing radiation detection station. Personnel of the Institute working at the laboratories visited explained further the various nuclear science applications, research experiments conducted and types of instruments and equipment used for analyses and radiation detection. This afforded international students the opportunity to have a first-hand view and experience of nuclear science and technology applications. This was also the first time some students saw and handled radiation detection instruments. Students during these tour sessions asked a lot of questions of which personnel of the institute provided answers. Below are some pictures of radiation detection instruments seen at the laboratories of the Technical Physics Institute of Heilongjiang Academy of Science.
