Senegal and Tajikistan students introduced their country’s nuclear power profile
The third session of introduction and Nuclear Power Profile of Countries (by International students) was held on the 21st day of November, 2019 at the college of Nuclear Science and Technology (CNST), Harbin, China.
At the beginning, Mr. Mohsen, a PhD student, gave an additional presentation on the conference of ISMTMF he attended.
The topic and aim of his presentation are respectively concentrations of TENORMs in Oily sludge of petroleum industries and its risks of environment and human exposure, and the impact of radioactivity concentration of Uranium 235 and 238 (235U and 238U) in sand and water in the environs of petroleum in Maˈrib province, Yemen.
Mr. Mohamed Diaby, a PhD student, from Senegal, talks about the politics, economy, energy profile, culture and traditions of Senegal. The country is 95% Muslims, 4% Catholics and 1% others.Senegal is Nuclear emerging country and in collaboration with International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), their first Nuclear energy (for production electricity) will be realised in the year of 2030.
Still and all, he made mention of other uses of nuclear technology in the country, such as Nuclear Medicine Scans for cancer treatment and along with a list of other applications.
The last presenter was Mr. Mahmadbek, a MSc student from Tajikistan. He gave a profile of his country’s cultural and traditions. Tajikistan is well known of its mountainous landlocked in central Asia. He also talks about the socio- economy and political status of the country. The main source of the country’s power is hydro. Inferring from his presentation, Tajikistan currently has no plans for nuclear energy.
