Nuclear power regulations are the cornerstone for ensuring the safe and efficient development of the nuclear power. It is also the yardstick for guiding the Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) design, manufacture, construction, commissioning, operation and decommissioning of the NPP. In order to improve the understanding of nuclear power regulations and safety standards for international students majoring in Nuclear Energy Engineering, and to cultivate their awareness of safety and standards when conducting future relevant scientific research and/or work as nuclear engineers, the College of Nuclear Science and Technology specially tailored the course “NPP Construction Regulations and Safety Standards” for international students.

The “NPP Construction Regulations and Safety Standards” course will be taught fully in English. Multiple experts will be invited from the Shanghai Nuclear Engineering Research and Design Institute (SNERDI) to lecture on the regulation and safety rule related topics, including the overall nuclear regulations and standards, regulations and rules on nuclear core design, nuclear fuel design, the process system, equipment and materials, electrical instrument control and civil construction design. Studying these regulations and standards will help students understand the equipment, materials, processes, civil construction design methods, performance and technical requirements of the NPP. It can also help students understand the developing process and developing trend of the world's mainstream nuclear power regulations and standards. Furthermore, students can learn the nuclear regulations, standards and the performance of the advanced CAP1400 nuclear reactor of China.

On the morning of March 17, 2019, Mrs. Lihua Wang from SNERDI taught the topic of The Laws, Regulations and Standards for Nuclear Design for international students in the 21B407 classroom. The course NPP Construction Regulations and Safety Standards  was officially started.
