President Xia Hong attends International Conference on Technical Cooperation projects of the International Atomic Energy Agency

President Xia Hong and Professor Cao Xinrong went to Austria from May 29th to June 3rd to attend the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) 60th Anniversary Achievement Exhibition and IAEA Technical Cooperation Project International Conference. The theme of the meeting was to promote the further development of partnerships among member States and other relevant organizations to explore future cooperation opportunities and sustainable development programmes for technical cooperation projects. More than 1,000 representatives from more than 160 countries and international organizations attended the meeting.

At the special session on China's achievements, President Xia Hong gave a report entitled Nuclear Education and training: cooperation, Development and contribution. This paper introduces the challenges and achievements of talent training in China under the situation of rapid development of nuclear power. The successful experience of the Institute of Nuclear Science and Technology of Harbin Engineering University in undertaking the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) technical cooperation project CPR 4032 was shared. In his report, Premier Xia also gave a detailed account of the Nuclear Education Program for emerging Nuclear Power countries, which is an international assistance project of the International Atomic Energy Agency, led by China's National Atomic Energy Agency (CAEAA). As the project implementing unit, Harbin Engineering University intends to provide education aid for nuclear power technicians and managers in emerging nuclear power countries, and adopt a cooperative approach with Chinese nuclear power enterprises and institutes. During the session, the project was further promoted and explained through exchanges with conference delegates and the distribution of project brochures, thus expanding the influence of schools and colleges on the international stage.

In addition, during the meeting, Premier Xia and his entourage also participated in the meeting with the heads of relevant departments of the International Atomic Energy Agency and exchanged views with exhibitors from various countries.
